An established owner’s representative and project management firm is seeking an experienced Major Project Director to lead the delivery of a landmark development in Austin, Texas on behalf of a major global live entertainment client.

This is a strategic senior appointment overseeing a large-scale mixed-use programme with an estimated total development value of approximately $500m, including a major new arena.

The project has strong executive backing and forms part of a wider long-term growth strategy in Texas. The successful candidate will act as the senior owner’s representative on the ground, leading the programme across design, preconstruction, procurement, construction, stakeholder coordination, project controls, and final delivery.

The role is based in Austin for the duration of the programme, and candidates based elsewhere in North America who are open to relocating will be fully considered.

The Role

As Project Director, you will represent the client’s interests and provide senior leadership across the full project lifecycle. You will be responsible for driving the programme forward, managing key stakeholders, overseeing delivery partners, and ensuring the project is delivered in line with cost, schedule, quality, safety, and commercial objectives.

You will be responsible for:

  • Acting as the senior owner’s representative for a landmark arena-led mixed-use development in Austin
  • Leading the project across design, preconstruction, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover
  • Managing the programme on behalf of the client, ensuring clear accountability across all project workstreams
  • Overseeing external consultants, architects, engineers, general contractors, trade partners, and specialist vendors
  • Establishing project governance, reporting structures, delivery milestones, risk registers, and decision-making processes
  • Driving design coordination, constructability reviews, procurement strategy, logistics planning, and construction sequencing
  • Monitoring budget, schedule, quality, safety, risk, change management, and overall project performance
  • Providing clear executive reporting and strategic updates to senior client stakeholders
  • Managing approvals, stakeholder engagement, local market relationships, and project communications
  • Leading and coordinating a high-performing project team through a multi-year delivery programme
  • Protecting the client’s commercial, operational, and reputational interests throughout the project lifecycle

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Significant experience delivering major construction or development programmes in a senior Project Director, Program Director, Owner’s Representative, Construction Director, Development Director, or Project Executive capacity
  • A strong background in large-scale commercial, sports, entertainment, hospitality, mixed-use, residential, or complex vertical construction projects
  • Proven experience representing an owner, developer, investor, or end-user client on major capital projects
  • Strong understanding of design management, preconstruction, procurement, project controls, scheduling, commercial management, and construction delivery
  • Experience managing architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, trade partners, and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Strong executive reporting, stakeholder management, negotiation, and leadership capability
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering complex projects safely, on time, and within budget
  • Experience working in the North American construction market, with Texas or high-growth regional market exposure advantageous
  • Willingness to be based in Austin, Texas for the duration of the programme
  • Degree-qualified in construction management, engineering, architecture, real estate, or a related discipline preferred
