The Role – Assistant Cost Manager
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Cost Manager to join a fast-growing consultancy with clear progression pathways. Working alongside senior team members, you’ll support the successful delivery of high-profile projects while developing your technical and client-facing skillset across both pre- and post-contract cost management services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the preparation of Order of Cost Estimates, Cost Plans, Tender Documents, and Contract Documents.
• Support cost reporting and financial management across projects, including tracking budgets, forecasts, and cashflow.
• Attend and assist with cost meetings, ensuring accurate documentation and follow-up actions.
• Review contractor cost submissions, variations, and change orders alongside senior team members.
• Utilize the company’s cost management platform to monitor and report project financials.
• Assist Project Managers and senior cost consultants during construction phases with cost tracking and procurement activities.
• Support monthly valuations, assessments, and preparation of final accounts.
• Prepare regular project cost reports and maintain accurate financial records.
• Collaborate with wider project teams and contribute to the successful delivery of projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
• 2–5 years’ experience in construction cost management or quantity surveying.
• Exposure to both pre- and post-contract cost management activities preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction and commercial management principles.
• U.S. citizenship, existing/transferable right to work in the U.S., or eligibility for an E2 or E3 visa.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and cost management software.
