Associate Director - Cost Management

We are working with an established construction and property consultancy to appoint an Associate Director of Cost Management in Chicago. This is a senior leadership opportunity within a growing office, offering the chance to shape and expand a cost management function focused on commercial interiors and workplace projects.

The business has a strong reputation globally and continues to build its presence in the US. This role will play a key part in driving growth, leading client relationships, and delivering high-quality cost advisory across national account programs and major corporate interiors portfolios.

The Role | Associate Director (Cost Management)

You will lead cost management delivery across multiple projects and clients, while also playing a central role in business development and team growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee cost management services across projects and portfolios
• Own and develop senior client relationships
• Drive business development, proposals, and client acquisition
• Provide commercial leadership across budgeting, procurement, and delivery
• Manage and mentor a growing team
• Support recruitment and team scaling efforts
• Establish best practices and delivery standards
• Collaborate with senior leadership on market strategy

Minimum Qualifications

• 12+ years of cost management or quantity surveying experience
• Strong commercial interiors / workplace project background
• Proven client-facing and leadership experience
• Experience within a consultancy or advisory environment
• Strong commercial and strategic thinking skills

Preferred Background

• Existing client relationships or network
• Experience with national account programs
• Professional accreditation (MRICS, etc.)
• Experience leading teams and growing business units
