We are working with an established construction and property consultancy to appoint an Assistant Cost Manager in Chicago. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to join a respected business with a strong pipeline of commercial interiors and workplace projects.

The Role | Assistant Cost Manager
You will support the delivery of cost management services across commercial interiors projects, working closely with senior team members and gaining hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in preparing cost plans, estimates, and budgets
- Support cost reporting, forecasting, and financial tracking
- Assist with contractor bid analysis and procurement processes
- Track and manage change orders
- Maintain project cost documentation and reporting tools
- Support value engineering and cost-saving initiatives
- Coordinate with internal and external project stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications
- 1-4 years of experience in cost management, estimating, or quantity surveying
- Exposure to commercial interiors, tenant improvement, or construction projects
- Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field
- Strong Excel and analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail and organization
Preferred Background
- Consultancy or internship experience
- Exposure to workplace or corporate interiors projects
- Interest in professional accreditation (RICS or similar)
- Strong communication skills and client-facing potential
