Associate Director – Cost Management (San Francisco)

A rapidly growing, partner-led construction consultancy is seeking an Associate Director to lead its San Francisco Cost Management team.
This is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for team management, client delivery, and supporting business growth on the West Coast.
The Opportunity
- Lead and develop a team of 4 cost managers based across the West Coast
- Act as the senior commercial lead for key client accounts
- Join a consultancy in aggressive growth mode following a recent merger
- Work across a diverse project portfolio including corporate interiors, infrastructure, healthcare, residential, life sciences, industrial, and data centers
- High visibility role with direct access to Partners and decision-makers
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cost management delivery across multiple complex projects
- Line manage, mentor, and develop a team of 4 direct reports
- Own senior client relationships and act as a trusted commercial advisor
- Oversee cost planning, estimating, reporting, risk, and change management
- Support business development efforts and client growth initiatives
- Help shape team structure, processes, and future hiring
What They’re Looking For
- 8-15+ years’ experience in cost management / quantity surveying
- Proven leadership experience managing teams
- Strong consultancy or owner’s rep background (GC backgrounds considered)
- Comfortable operating across multiple sectors, not a single-sector role
- Open to UK, Australian, or US-trained QS profiles
- Candidates already in the US preferred; UK relocation considered (visa support available)
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $170,000-$200,000
