A leading general contracting firm in New York City is seeking a skilled Estimator with a minimum of 3 years of experience to join its preconstruction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial construction processes and costs, and will play a critical role in preparing accurate and competitive project estimates across a range of sectors including corporate interiors, retail, healthcare, and ground-up developments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for construction projects during the conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction document phases.

• Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documents to develop accurate pricing proposals.

• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes; build and maintain relationships with a network of qualified trade partners.

• Participate in value engineering efforts to identify cost-saving opportunities.

• Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to clarify scope and ensure estimate alignment with project goals.

• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walk-throughs as required.

• Assist in the development of bid strategies and proposal presentations.

• Maintain and update historical cost databases and estimating tools.

• Support budgeting and forecasting efforts throughout the preconstruction phase.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably with a general contractor.

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

• Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Sage Estimating, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Strong understanding of NYC construction codes, regulations, and building practices.

• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with clients, consultants, and internal teams.

• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in estimating corporate interiors or high-end commercial fit-outs.

• Familiarity with Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar project management platforms.

• LEED or other sustainability-related experience is a plus.
