Senior Project Manager | Commercial Construction

Our client is a leading Project & Cost Management consultancy delivering high-caliber construction management services across multiple sectors including corporate interiors, real estate development, financial institutions, media & entertainment, education, healthcare, retail, and critical facilities. Headquartered in New York City with offices nationwide, the firm partners with clients from early strategic planning and site selection through design, construction, and final occupancy.
With a strong pipeline of new work and a growing Midwest presence, our client is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join their Chicago team. This role offers the opportunity to lead a variety of high-profile commercial and interior fit-out projects, working with top-tier clients and design teams in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsbilities:
Lead multiple complex projects through all phases. From pre-construction to closeout; ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Manage client relationships, serving as the key point of contact for project delivery and strategic planning.
Oversee budgets, schedules, contracts, and reporting processes; ensure alignment with financial goals and project controls.
Direct and mentor project teams, fostering a collaborative and performance-driven culture.
Review and approve invoices, manage change orders, RFIs, and ensure contractual compliance.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to proactively resolve issues and maintain project momentum.
Qualifications:
6+ years of relevant experience in commercial construction or project management.
Experience in corporate interiors, tenant improvements, or real estate development projects preferred.
Background may be from either a General Contractor or Consultancy environment.
Strong understanding of project delivery methods, cost control, and scheduling.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Proven track record managing multiple concurrent projects successfully.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field required.
MBA or advanced degree a plus.
