Electrical Project Manager (Owner's Representative), Hyperscale Data Centers

Capstone is partnering with a world-renowned independent construction and property consultancy to recruit a driven Electrical Project Manager. This is a rare opportunity to join the mission-critical team and work on data center campus projects. You will be gaining invaluable experience and opportunities for career progression in this high-demand field.

Team Environment:

You will join a vibrant, close-knit team known for strong relationships and a collaborative nature. As a multi-national company, they offer a dynamic atmosphere with team members from diverse backgrounds who value hard work and enjoy networking and socializing.

Core Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Owner's Electrical Authority: Serve as the Owner's single point of contact and final decision-maker for all matters related to the design, quality, and execution of the data center's electrical infrastructure. You will be the owner's advocate, empowered to protect the project's long-term operational and business objectives.
  • Oversee Full Project Lifecycle: Manage the entire electrical scope from early design reviews and constructability analysis through procurement, construction, Level 1-5 commissioning, and final handover to the facility operations team.
  • Manage Financials and Contracts: Administer multi-million dollar contracts, review and negotiate all electrical change orders, and manage the electrical budget with rigorous oversight to protect the owner's financial interests.
  • Enforce Uncompromising Quality: Lead on-site quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) efforts for all electrical systems, conducting detailed inspections to ensure all work strictly complies with design specifications and the owner's standards.
  • Drive the Master Electrical Schedule: Collaborate with the General Contractor to develop, manage, and defend the integrated electrical schedule, ensuring critical timelines for testing and commissioning are protected.
  • Lead Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison between the owner’s executive team, design engineers, general contractors, and critical equipment vendors to drive project alignment and resolve issues proactively.
  • Champion Design Integrity: Conduct thorough reviews and provide final approval for all electrical design documents, equipment submittals, and technical specifications to ensure alignment with the owner's requirements for reliability and scalability.

Required Qualifications & Technical Expertise

  • Experience: A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive project management experience in mission-critical environments.
  • At least 5 years of recent, dedicated experience must be focused on managing the complete electrical scope of hyperscale data center construction projects with capacities greater than 20 MW.
  • Expert-Level Electrical Systems Knowledge: Demonstrable, deep technical expertise across the entire data center power chain is essential, including:
  • Medium-Voltage (MV) Systems
  • Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and high-reliability redundancy configurations (N+1, 2N)
  • Backup Power Generation and complex paralleling switchgear
  • Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) and SCADA systems
  • Codes and Standards: Complete fluency in the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other industry best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in an Owner's Representative capacity.
  • Educational & Professional Credentials: A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage large, diverse teams of technical professionals in a demanding, fast-paced environment.

Who You Are

  • An Uncompromising Advocate: You are the owner's voice on-site, confident in your ability to enforce quality standards and protect the project's long-term objectives, even when faced with schedule pressure.
  • A Systems Thinker: You understand precisely how the entire electrical ecosystem—from the utility lines to the server power supply—must integrate and perform flawlessly under all conditions.
  • A Master Communicator & Cost Optimizer: You can translate complex electrical engineering concepts into clear business risks and financial impacts for executive stakeholders.
  • A Proactive Risk Manager: You don't just identify problems; you anticipate them and drive the collaborative effort to find and implement solutions.
  • Detail-Oriented: You have a keen eye for detail and understand that in a mission-critical environment, small oversights can have massive consequences.
