Associate Director - Project Management | High-End Office Interiors

Commercial Construction
Chicago, Illinois
Salary: $155,000-$165,000 + Bonus

Our client is a leading Project & Cost Management consultancy known for delivering some of the most design-led, high-end office interiors in the market. Operating at the intersection of real estate, design, and construction, they partner with elite corporate occupiers, developers, and institutional clients to deliver spaces that are as technically complex as they are visually exceptional.

Headquartered in New York City with a rapidly growing national footprint, the firm is expanding its Chicago presence and is seeking an Associate Director of Project Management to take a lead role on flagship, high-value office interiors projects. This is a senior, client-facing position offering real autonomy, influence, and progression.

The Role

As Associate Director, you will lead from the front; owning the delivery of super high-end office interiors from early strategy through final handover. You’ll be trusted to run major accounts, guide teams, and set the tone for project excellence.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in bespoke, design-forward environments, understands the nuances of premium finishes and complex stakeholder groups, and can confidently sit at the table with C-suite clients, architects, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee flagship, high-end office interiors projects through all phases, from pre-construction strategy to close-out and occupancy.
  • Act as the primary client advisor and relationship owner, providing strategic guidance and ensuring repeat business.
  • Take full ownership of budgets, schedules, contracts, and risk management, ensuring projects are delivered flawlessly.
  • Set project delivery standards and mentor Project Managers and junior staff, driving performance and accountability.
  • Manage procurement strategies, change control, RFIs, and commercial reporting with precision.
  • Collaborate closely with top-tier architects, designers, engineers, and contractors to resolve issues proactively and maintain momentum.
  • Contribute to the growth of the Chicago office through business development support, client engagement, and thought leadership.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in project management within commercial construction or high-end interiors.
  • Proven experience delivering premium office interiors / tenant improvement projects with high design and technical complexity.
  • Background from either a Project Management Consultancy or General Contractor environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen with deep knowledge of project delivery methods, cost control, and scheduling.
  • Confident leader with exceptional client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Track record of managing multiple complex projects simultaneously without dropping the ball.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field required.
