About the Company

Our client is a newly established Owner’s Representative firm with ambitious plans to grow across North America.

Founded by a highly regarded construction leader with an excellent track record across major national programmes, the business has already secured significant work with a global technology client. It also has a growing pipeline across luxury retail, hospitality, entertainment and complex programme delivery.

This is an early-stage business with significant momentum. The successful candidate will join at an exciting stage of its growth, delivering high-profile work and helping establish the company’s presence in New York and across the wider region.

About the Role

The business is looking to appoint a Cost Manager based in New York City. Working alongside senior cost and project management colleagues, the successful candidate will support projects from early feasibility and preconstruction through procurement, construction and final account.

The role combines detailed cost management with regular interaction across the client, design and construction teams. It would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of project information, producing clear commercial advice and building trusted relationships with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and updating order-of-cost estimates, cost plans and project budgets.
  • Supporting procurement strategy, bid documentation, tender analysis and contractor recommendations.
  • Reviewing payment applications, change orders, forecasts and supporting commercial documentation.
  • Maintaining cost reports, cash flows, change logs and risk allowances throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Attending design and project meetings and providing clear advice on cost implications and value opportunities.
  • Working with architects, engineers, contractors and client stakeholders to obtain and validate cost information.
  • Supporting value management exercises and identifying practical opportunities to protect the client’s budget.
  • Assisting with contract administration, project closeout and final account activities.
  • Producing accurate, concise client reports and escalating emerging cost risks promptly.
  • Contributing to the development of consistent cost management tools and processes across the growing business.

About the Person

The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented cost professional who can combine strong technical fundamentals with clear communication. They will be comfortable working independently on defined tasks while knowing when to seek guidance or escalate a commercial issue.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Relevant experience in cost management, quantity surveying or commercial management within a consultancy, Owner’s Representative or contractor environment.
  • Experience preparing estimates, cost plans, tender analyses, cost reports and change assessments.
  • A sound understanding of construction procurement, contracts and the project lifecycle.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and document-management skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • The confidence to communicate with clients, consultants and contractors in a professional and practical way.
  • A degree in quantity surveying, construction management, engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the New York construction market is advantageous.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and enthusiasm for developing within a growing Owner’s Representative platform.
