A well established and expanding General Contractor is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of complex, high profile construction projects across New York. The Role

You will play an integral role in supporting the full lifecycle of construction projects, from early-stage planning through to final closeout. This is a hands-on position where you will be given real responsibility across coordination, financial tracking, and communication, rather than a purely administrative role.

Key Responsibilities

In this position, you will support project planning and scheduling while assisting with the coordination of subcontractors and day-to-day site activities. You will be involved in budgeting and cost control, including tracking project spend and managing change orders. The role also includes reviewing contracts, drawings, and technical documentation to ensure accuracy and alignment across the project team. You will take ownership of managing RFIs, submittals, and procurement logs, while also tracking project risks, key actions, and deliverables to keep projects on schedule. In addition, you will contribute to project reporting and maintain clear communication with internal teams and clients, while supporting the closeout process and ensuring all final documentation is completed thoroughly.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have experience working with a General Contractor or Construction Manager and will have been exposed to commercial, residential, or mixed-use construction projects. You will demonstrate strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Confidence in communicating with subcontractors, consultants, and clients is important, along with a proactive attitude and a genuine desire to develop into a Project Manager. Candidates should be based in New York or open to relocating.
