Job Description:

As a Senior Construction Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the preconstruction phase, leading the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of projects. You will work closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure the financial success of each project. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, industry expertise, and the ability to mentor junior estimators.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the estimation process for commercial, residential, and institutional projects, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
• Review project plans, specifications, and scope to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and pricing for labor, materials, and equipment.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to determine the best value.
• Collaborate with project teams to develop project schedules, budgets, and bid strategies.
• Identify potential risks and cost-saving opportunities through value engineering.
• Present cost estimates and reports to executives, clients, and stakeholders.
• Maintain and refine historical cost databases to improve future estimating accuracy.
• Stay current with industry trends, market conditions, and construction methodologies.
• Mentor and guide junior estimators to strengthen the estimating team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of experience in construction estimating with a General Contractor.
• Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and estimating principles.
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwift, or similar).
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple bids simultaneously.
• Established relationships with subcontractors and suppliers in the Boston area is a plus.
