We are representing a rapidly growing cost and project management consultancy with offices across the US. Following significant growth and a recent strategic partnership with a leading global consultancy, the business is entering its next phase of expansion, backed by increased resources, international expertise, and long-term investment.
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Cost Manager to join its growing Houston team, working on a major data center campus for a leading data infrastructure provider.
This opportunity is open to candidates who are:
Already based in Houston
Looking to relocate to Houston from another US state
Based outside the US and eligible to relocate through the E-2 or E-3 visa route, including suitably qualified British and Australian passport holders
A comprehensive relocation package is available for candidates moving to Houston.
The role will provide significant exposure to a large-scale, mission-critical development, with responsibility across cost management, commercial reporting, change management, valuations and contractor management. It is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team with genuine scope for long-term career progression.
Lead the day-to-day cost management of a major data center development.
Manage post-contract cost activities, including valuations, change management, cost reporting and forecasting.
Review contractor applications for payment and support the assessment and agreement of valuations.
Manage variations and change requests, assessing commercial impact and maintaining accurate change logs.
Produce detailed monthly cost reports, forecasts and project updates.
Monitor planned versus actual costs and identify potential commercial risks.
Work closely with contractors, consultants, project managers and client stakeholders throughout the construction phase.
Support cash flow forecasting and ongoing budget management.
Review provisional sums, contractor-designed portions and other key commercial allowances.
Support the preparation, negotiation and agreement of final accounts.
Provide clear commercial advice and cost information to senior project stakeholders.
Maintain accurate cost information using the company's project and cost management systems.
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
Ideally 6+ years of experience within cost management, quantity surveying or commercial management.
Strong post-contract cost management experience.
Experience with change management, valuations/pay applications, cost reporting and cash flow forecasting.
Data center, mission-critical, advanced manufacturing or other large-scale construction experience is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced, client-facing project environment.
Candidates must already have US work authorization or be eligible for an appropriate US visa route.
Base Salary: $130,000-$150,000
Bonus: Annual bonus opportunity
